Proud to represent the Grossmont Healthcare District (GHD) June 19, 2024, at the Big Rock Park ribbon cutting, one of five Santee Park sunscreen dispenser locations . GHD invests in programs that benefit the health and well-being of the East County residents. GHD collaborated with IMPACT Melanoma, Santee City, Santee Lakes, and YMCA in a Pilot Program, providing 11 sunscreen dispensers throughout Santee. Look for the bright yellow dispensers: 3 at Santee Lakes, 5 at Santee Parks, and 3 at the YMCA.

Each year Grossmont Healthcare District awards scholarships to all levels of students pursuing a career in healthcare from Pharmacy Technicians, Orthopedic Technicians, Cardiovascular Technicians, Licensed Vocational Nurses up to advanced degrees in nursing and psychosocial degrees. As we near the end of the application period for this year, it is important to apply now if you or someone you know might fit into one of these categories. GHD Supports Efforts to Help the Homeless

In 2017, Grossmont Healthcare District helped the efforts of the only east county homeless shelter, East County Transitional Living Center by providing a grant to purchase a much needed van used to take homeless people to their doctor appointments.

GHD Prepares Healthcare Workers for the Future

At the March 17th, 2023 Board Meeting, the Grossmont Healthcare District (GHD) awarded $108,900 in scholarships to 44 local high school students.

Students from 22 East County high schools were selected by school administrators for their academic excellence and a desire to improve healthcare in the future. Each school nominated two students, a primary recipient ($3,300) and a secondary recipient awarded ($1,650).

Established in 1999, the scholarship program aims to increase access to continuing education, ultimately addressing the ongoing shortage of healthcare workers in the region.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, about 2 million new healthcare jobs are to be added over the decade, with a 13% growth from 2021 to 2031.

Every May Grossmont Healthcare District recognizes outstanding volunteer Healthcare Heroes. However, due to the pandemic, the 2020 Healthcare Heroes Luncheon has been postponed until September. However, the six Healthcare Heroes have been chosen and need to be recognized for their devotion.

Grossmont Healthcare District Board Approves Emergency COVID-19 Relief Funding for Area Clinics and Front-Line Hospital Caregivers

The Grossmont Healthcare District board unanimously voted for an emergency grant program for COVID-19 relief funding of $255,000, in support of area community clinics as well as front-line caregivers at Sharp Grossmont Hospital.

Grossmont Healthcare District Offers $71,000 in Continuing Education Scholarships

In an effort to address the shortage of advanced Behavioral Healthcare providers, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants, Grossmont Healthcare District is offering up to five $10,000 student scholarship for behavioral health professionals, and up to three $7,000 scholarships for the Advanced Registered Nursing program. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s application deadline has been extended to May 8, 2020.
