I am honored to have been elected to the Grossmont Healthcare District Board in 2016 and look forward to being re-elected in 2020. I want to thank everyone for their overwhelming support and encouragement. I will work hard for the Grossmont Healthcare District to ensure that Sharp-Grossmont Hospital will be a premier facility and to address any unmet healthcare.
On the Grossmont Healthcare Board, I have served as the Secretary in 2017-2018 and Vice President 2019. I am the Grants and Sponsorship Chair. Part of my work involved starting an annual Grants Workshop to help nonprofits with the details of applying. This past year we used a community healthcare assessment to better serve and meet the top five healthcare needs, which included: Behavioral Health, Cardiovascular Disease, Cancer, Diabetes, and Obesity. Seeing the shortage of Advanced Behavioral Health workers and of Nurse Practitioners, we created new scholarships to help increase the number of practitioners in these fields. As the Public Relations Committee Chair, I have led the committee in recognizing and honoring Healthcare Heroes in the Community as well as helping to organized the annual Kids Care Fest. On the Finance Audit Committee, I have reviewed budgets and worked to keep taxes down. I have also served on the facilities committee where we would walk through Sharp Grossmont Hospital to insure the facilities are well maintained.
While many of you know me as a businesswoman Realtor, I have more than twenty years’ experience as a Registered Nurse. The blend of my two careers has been perfect for the Grossmont Healthcare District Board.
My nursing background includes working in hospitals, emergency rooms, clinics, and research facilities. I have participated on research boards, presented at several national nursing conferences, and have been published in medical publications. All of my nursing career has been spent providing patient care and oversight connected to hospitals and their systems.
As a conservative businesswoman for the past 16 years, I have developed successful business and financial practices. With my extensive medical and business experience, I will be committed to meeting East County’s healthcare needs and to providing accountability, long-term planning, and quality oversight of the lease with Grossmont Hospital.
I have lived in East County for more than 40 years. Most of my life, I have actively volunteered in my community. I served as the 2016 Chairperson of the Santee Chamber of Commerce, where I lead the Board of Directors in planning and overseeing the Chamber budget and operations. I also serve our community as a Santee-Lakeside Rotarian.
Thank you for your vote and support.
